The legendary brand began its road to fame 50 years ago. At that time its creator, Ferruccio Lamborghini, was the owner of a company that produced agricultural machinery.
The emblem of the company was a golden bull. Despite the profitability of the company, Ferruccio dreamed of something else. He really wanted to create the best sports car in the world, because none of the cars he had seen satisfied him with its quality and technical characteristics. At that time, the dream seemed wild and unrealizable to others, because Ferrari was the "queen" of sports cars. That's how the history of Lamborghini began.
Ferruccio bought two Ferraris, as he was an avid car enthusiast, but it turned out that they did not suit him in terms of driving characteristics.
He told this to Enzo Ferrari, who told him that a farmer who builds tractors cannot give advice to a man who not only was a racer, but also has been a designer of sports cars for several years.This left Ferruccio vulnerable and he told Enzo that he would build a much better car than his Ferrari.
1963 was a memorable year for the Turin Motor Show. There the public was shown a test sample of the first Lamborghini car - the 350 GTV. The car was equipped with a 347-horsepower 3.5-liter V-12 engine. It was a gorgeous two-seat coupe. The 350 GTV could reach a top speed of 280 km/h. It could reach 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds.
Already by the end of the year, the new company presented the Lamborghini 350 GTV at the Turin Auto Show. The radiator grille of the car featured an emblem with a bull. The successful debut proved that Ferruccio Lamborghini can make cars no worse than Enzo Ferrari. Despite producing competitive models and customer interest, the global crisis, as well as an unsuccessful attempt to cooperate with South America to sell tractors, led to a lack of funds. Ferruccio Lamborghini sold off his shares in the tractor factory, and from 1972 the Lamborghini car brand began to acquire new shareholders. The first was Swiss industrialist Georges-Henri Rossetti, Rene Limier bought the rest of the shares, then the owners began to change frequently.
After two years, the owner was changed again, it was the American corporation Chrysler. It was during this period that Lamborghini regained its first position on the market, which was facilitated by the correct approach of the management. Much attention was paid to modernization of production. There was created a new model Lamborghini Diablo. In 1994, the business was taken over by industrialists from Indonesia, and four years later by Audi AG. The new management played an important role in the further history of Lamborghini. The design of the model range has changed - it began to correspond to the lifestyle in the modern world. The Lamborghini Murciélago supercar was released in 2001, bringing back the company's former glory. The car showed excellent technical performance along with a stylish, modern design.
The design of this car was developed by the Belgian Luc Donkerwolk. For the first time, it was not done by an Italian. Murcielago got rounded forms, which brought fans of the brand to sincere admiration. The new car, compared to the previous model, became more comfortable and got quite a spacious interior. The engine had 12 cylinders and a volume of 6.2 liters. The car was able to speed up to 330 km/hour. After this model came a tiny Lamborghini Gallardo, which has pleased with a successful combination of compact size and excellent technical features. In 2003, the L140 model was launched, which won the worldwide popularity.
